Installing WordLogic
WordLogic runs on any computer with Windows® Vista, Windows® XP, or Windows® 2000.
To install the WordLogic Predictive Keyboard on a desktop computer:
1. |
Put the WordLogic CD in the CD-ROM drive and browse the WordLogic CD with Windows® Explorer.

2. |
Double click on the installation file to start the installation.
|
3. |
Follow the prompts of the installation program. |
4. |
When you have finished installing WordLogic, this shortcut appears on your desktop: |

Double click on theWordLogic shortcut to start the Predictive Keyboard.
|
To install the WordLogic Predictive Keyboard on your own USB flash drive:
1. |
Attach the USB flash drive to the USB port of your computer and wait for the computer to recognize the USB flash drive. Use Windows® Explorer to locate the drive-letter of the USB flash drive.
|
2. |
Put the WordLogic CD in the CD-ROM drive and browse the WordLogic CD with Windows® Explorer.
|
3. |
Double click on the installation file to start the installation. The installation program is a self-extracting installer. Please follow the prompts of the self extracting installer and use the drive-letter of the USB flash drive as the location to extract onto.
|
4. |
When you have finished installing WordLogic, a folder WordLogicDesktop has been created on your USB drive.
|
To start using WordLogic from a USB flash drive:
1. |
Attach the USB flash drive to the USB port of your computer and wait for the Windows® system to recognize the USB flash drive. |
2. |
Open Windows® Explorer and browse the USB flash drive to open the folder WordLogic Desktop.
|
3. |
Double click on the file WordLogicDesktop.exe to start WordLogic.
|
Getting Started
The basic function of the WordLogic Predictive Keyboard is to assist you with entering text on desktop, laptop, and tablet computers. Start typing in the application of your choice, and WordLogic will predict words and phrases in parallel.
This is what your screen might look like when you start typing the word ‘January’:

Program Menu – allows you to access various options to customize your Keyboard.

‘History’ Button – allows you to access previously typed text.
|
|
‘Phrase’ Button – lets you access text currently stored in the clipboard.
|
|
On-Screen Keyboard – a virtual keyboard employing an easy-to-learn colour-coding system designed for everyone who finds it difficult to use a physical keyboard, or uses touch screen devices.
|
|
Prediction List – the core element of the program, where words and phrases suggested by the program will be displayed. Characters you have typed already appear in blue; the suggested (predicted) characters appear in black.WordLogic predicts up to five words and/or phrases at a time.
|
|
‘Popular Word’ – one of the words in the Prediction List is highlighted in light blue. This is a so-called ‘Popular Word’ – a word that the program believes tobe the likeliest tobeentered next.

Using WordLogic While Typing
To insert the word from the Prediction List into your document:

Press the SHIFT key if the word/phrase of your choice is highlighted (‘Popular Word’), OR |
|
Click on the word/phrase with your mouse/stylus, OR
|
|
Press and hold the SPACEBAR key, followed by a number (1 to 5) corresponding to the position of the word in the Prediction List.
|
Pressing and holding the SPACEBAR key down (either on hardware or the On-Screen Keyboard) will activate the WordLogic window and provide you with direct access to program features including:

Navigating the Prediction List to Insert Words
1. |
Press and hold the SPACEBAR key down. |

Use the Arrow keys of the hardware keyboard, or slide the mouse/stylus to navigate the WordLogic window and the Prediction List.

3. |
Release the SPACEBAR key to complete the word you have selected.
NOTE:You can also see that some words/phrases in the Prediction List are followed by an ellipsis (…). The ellipsis indicates that there are more words and phrases (called ‘Word Chunks™’) available based on the characters you have typed. Use the Right Arrow key to get access to these related words and phrases.

Adding Words and Phrases
While typing, you can add words or phrases to your Personal Dictionary.

Type in the word you would like to add, followed by a space indicating that the word is complete. |

Press and hold the SPACEBAR down.The appearance of the screen will change, as shown in Fig. 3, showing you the Yes/No choices to add the word.

Use your navigation keys to move the program cursor down onto the ‘Yes’ button, and release the SPACEBAR. The word is now stored in your Personal Dictionary.
|
Typing Special Symbols and Characters
All special symbols and characters are ‘related’ to simple base characters. For instance, æ, @, á are all based on (related to) the simple a character; §, p are related to p, etc.

Press and hold down the ‘o’ button. As usual, this will activate the WordLogic Predictive Keyboard window.
NOTE:There is a special button to the right of our active cursor. This is the Special Symbols button, as illustrated in Fig. 4.

Press the Right Arrow key to get access to the Special Characters Panel with all characters based on ‘o.’ The window will change, as shown in Fig. 4.

Use the Arrow keys (or the navigation keys of your choice) to select ‘ô’ from the list of special symbols. |
4. |
Release the ‘o’ button to insert the special character ‘ô’ into your text.
|
Looking Up Words and Phrases on the Internet
While typing, you can look up words or phrases on the Internet.
1. |
Type in the word or phrase you would like to look up, followed by a space indicating that the word is complete. Press and hold the SPACEBAR key.

Use the Navigation Keys to scroll back in the History, until the desired word or phrase you want to look up is selected within WordLogic. In the bottom part of the WordLogic screen, you will see the WordLogic Portal - a collection of icons representing various websites you can perform searches in, as represented in Fig. 5.

Using the Navigation Keys, move the cursor to the icon representing your desired search engine (in Fig. 5, it is DICS - dictionary), and release the SPACEBAR key. |
4. |
WordLogic will automatically start your Internet Browser and open the specified website, with the word phrase selected being your query.

Performing Calculations
1. |
Type the expression you want to calculate. For example, type 6*3, without any spaces. |

2. |
Type a space after the expression, indicating the expression is complete.

3. |
Press and hold the SPACEBAR. The dialog box displays the expression and the result of the calculation, as in Fig. 6.

4. |
Use the Navigation Keys to select the result in the format of your choice (with or without the equal sign). |
5. |
Release the SPACEBAR to insert the result into your text. |
Using Selected Text in WordLogic
You can access features, such as adding words and phrases, looking up words and phrases in the Internet and performing calculations, through selection. For example, by selecting a segment of text in any application and pressing and holding CTRL+C, you can also add new words and phrases to your Personal Dictionary:

First, select (highlight) the text in your document by holding the SHIFT key and using the Arrow keys of the hardware keyboard, as shown in Fig. 7. |
2. |
Press and hold down CTRL+C to activate the WordLogic window.

3. |
Use your navigation keys to move the cursor down onto the ‘Yes’ button, and release CTRL+C.The phrase is now stored in your Personal Dictionary.
